Congratulations to Maillie Harris, our latest Elite Sportswear Coach of the Week. Below is the nomination email we received from Mike.
Maillie Harris coaches the Oilers Octane cheerleaders and they all work hard as I know the Octane are not paid and volunteer to be members of the team. I think it would be good to reward the coach as well as give some more exposure to their squad for the hard work they put in, especially in the community as the lockout continued on.
Mike
Would love to know who Mike is as he is not an actual member on the team to see what goes on behind closed doors. Back in the day, this award had an interview portion with the team to get their nod of approval due to THEM being the ones nominating their own coach. Please find out if both captains have quit the team in the short 3 year span Octane has been around, because they have. Please find out if the Oilers organizaton even looks into the amount of members that average more than a season because if this was a successfully run program, you would still see members from year 1 PROPERLY representing Oil Country and enjoying the experience. Last time I checked, coaches motivate you and become someone you look up to. This couldn’t be more opposite as the advice given to these young impressionable girls will be the reason females have self esteem issues and/or never peak from being on the Octane. This will be as good as it gets for them, but hey….at least you get “better looking once being on a cheer team”, right?
LOL whose mike. didn’t realize they were letting men on the octane now. pretty sure she gets paid (probably very well) to “coach” that team. if u want to nominate someone try the team themselves as they are the volunteers who (obviously get crapped on judging by the comment below) put all their time and effort into this. ooooooooh she gets paid to represent the biggest cash cow brand in alberta – why stop at coach of the week? obviously coach of the year is in order!!!!!! in most industries you can judge the performance of management based on the turnover rate….
